- Branch Management:
The ADG oversees the functioning, administration, and staff management of the respective branch within the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). - Policy Implementation:
Responsible for implementing policies related to shipping, maritime training, crew management, and welfare, ensuring alignment with government regulations and international standards. - Supervision and Control:
Exercises supervision over branch activities, ensuring strict compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and established procedures. - Assistance to Senior Officers:
Provides support to senior officers such as the Director General, Additional Director General, and Deputy Director General in policy formulation and administrative matters. - Disposal of Representations and Grievances:
Initiates and oversees action on complaints, representations, and grievances received from seafarers, stakeholders, and the general public. - Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs):
Handles matters related to approval, monitoring, and regulation of pre-sea and post-sea training courses conducted by MTIs. - Maritime Education and Training:
Contributes to the promotion, development, and regulation of maritime education and training in coordination with national and international bodies. - Crew Management & RPSL Matters:
Deals with Recruitment and Placement Services License (RPSL) regulations and other crew-related administrative and regulatory functions. - Seafarer Welfare:
Ensures welfare of seafarers, including engagement and discharge processes, dispute resolution, issuance of Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDC), and assistance to distressed seafarers. - RTI & CPGRAM Responsibilities:
Acts as Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) and monitors timely redressal of grievances received through RTI and CPGRAM portals. - Safety and Prevention:
Oversees matters related to crew safety, prevention of fraudulent practices, and may participate in accident investigations. - Pension Cases:
Initiates and processes actions related to settlement of pension cases for employees. - Other Duties:
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by higher authorities, including tasks related to both Training and Crew branches.
