DG Shipping’s Technical Leadership at CII Shipbuilding Conference, Goa


On 15th September 2025, the Directorate General of Shipping participated in the CII Conference on Shipbuilding held at ITC Grand, Goa, themed “India Shipbuilding Roadmap towards Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.” Shri Nebu Oommen, Dy Chief Ship Surveyor-cum-Senior Dy Director General (Technical), delivered a presentation outlining the Ministry’s four-pillar strategy to boost India’s shipbuilding sector. His presentation covered the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme (SBFAS), Maritime Development Fund (MDF), infrastructure capacity building, and policy reforms. Emphasizing long-term policy visibility and ecosystem development, Shri Oommen reaffirmed DG Shipping’s commitment to building a globally competitive and future-ready maritime sector aligned with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision.

INMEX SMM India, Mumbai


Informa Markets in India is set to host the 14th edition of INMEX SMM India 2025, South Asia’s premier maritime event, from 10th to 12th September 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

DGS officials actively participated in high-impact panel discussions covering ship repair efficiency, sustainability, government policy impacts, and workforce development. These sessions explored global best practices, technological innovations, and strategic collaborations to enhance India’s competitiveness in maritime manufacturing and services.
