DGMA Participation in 24th NMSAR Board Meeting

The Directorate General of Maritime Affairs (DGMA) participated in the 24th National Maritime Search and Rescue (NMSAR) Board Meeting held on 7 October 2026 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. DGMA attended the proceedings on Agenda No. 2, which focused on the proposal to consider deployment of two Emergency Towing Vessels (ETVs), one positioned in the Gulf of Khambhat and another at Kandla Port in the Gulf of Kutch. The agenda highlighted the strategic importance of these locations, considering the concentration of maritime traffic, petroleum and chemical cargo movements, offshore activities, and navigational challenges in the region. Discussions also covered the potential role of ETVs in enhancing emergency response and maritime safety capabilities. The meeting provided a platform for deliberations among stakeholders on matters relating to search and rescue preparedness, emergency response arrangements, and maritime safety. DGMA remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen maritime safety, emergency preparedness, and response capabilities across India's maritime domain.
