DGS Leads Shipbuilding Dialogue at the Goa Coastal State Workshop 2026

The Directorate General of Shipping, in collaboration with the Captain of Ports Department and the Government of Goa, convened the Goa Coastal State Workshop – Charting the Maritime Future of India’s Coastal States on 2nd March 2026.
A dedicated session on Pillar II – Shipbuilding & Ship Recycling Opportunities – Accelerating India’s Maritime Transformation highlighted the strategic importance of strengthening India’s shipbuilding and recycling ecosystem under Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.


The session was presented by Ravi Kumar M, Ship Surveyor-cum-Deputy Director General (Technical), Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India, who outlined a roadmap covering policy enablers, infrastructure priorities, and regulatory measures to scale India’s shipbuilding and recycling capacity.
