2nd National Port Security Conference 2026 | Strengthening India's Port Security Architecture & Maritime Resilience

The 2nd National Port Security Conference 2026 was held on 6 August 2026 in New Delhi, bringing together around 140 participants from the Government, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, CISF, State Maritime Boards, Port Authorities and the maritime industry to strengthen India's port security architecture and preparedness against emerging maritime security challenges. The Conference was inaugurated by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon'ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, who emphasised that security and development must progress together, with secure and resilient ports forming the foundation of strong trade, a strong economy and a strong nation. He called for collective action towards building a secure, resilient and globally trusted maritime ecosystem, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The Conference also featured addresses by Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW; Dr. Rajendra Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Border Management), Ministry of Home Affairs; Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Maritime Administration; Shri Sushil Mansing Khopde, IPS, Additional Director General of Maritime Administration; and Capt. A. K. Azad, Nautical Adviser-cum-Additional Director General (Nautical). Technical deliberations covered emerging maritime security threats, ISPS compliance, the proposed Bureau of Port Security (BoPS), the PRANAAM Initiative, cybersecurity in ports, geopolitical developments, best practices in port security, State Maritime Boards' experiences, and strengthening port and ship security. The Conference reinforced a shared national commitment to collaboration, technology-driven security, institutional coordination and resilience for safeguarding India's expanding maritime interests.
