The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) participated in the high-level Leadership Panel on “Aligning Capital and Capability: A Shared Path to 2030 SDG Delivery” with Ms. Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and CEO, United Nations Global Compact, organised by the UN Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) on 13 August 2026 in Mumbai. Shri Killi Mohana Rao, Chief Surveyor (I/c), DGMA, represented the Directorate at the panel, which brought together senior leaders from the UN, Government, industry and financial institutions to deliberate on accelerating progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the discussion, Shri Rao shared perspectives on the role of the maritime sector in advancing sustainable development, with emphasis on shipping-led SDG delivery, maritime decarbonisation, greener and more resilient maritime ecosystems, and sustainable infrastructure development. The interaction provided an important platform to highlight the contribution of India’s maritime sector towards sustainable growth and the broader 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. DGMA remains committed to advancing a sustainable, resilient and low-carbon maritime sector through policy, innovation, collaboration and international engagement.
