Maritime Investment Stakeholders Meet

Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Maritime Administration (DGMA), delivered the inaugural address at the Maritime Investment Stakeholders Meet organised by the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in Mumbai on 19th August 2026, inviting Expression of Interest (EoI) from stakeholders for the development of ports and shipyards across Gujarat. Commencing his address, DG(MA) underscored the strong synergy between the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat, highlighting how close Centre- State coordination continues to serve as the foundation for translating national maritime ambitions into on-ground execution across the state. He offered stakeholders a preview into the rapid transformation sweeping India's maritime sector, drawing attention to the pace and scale of reforms, investments and infrastructure development taking shape nationwide under the inspiration and vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. A key highlight of the address was Gujarat's ambitious maritime investment pipeline comprising six greenfield ports, three greenfield shipyards, and a dedicated shipbuilding cluster at Kuchhadi among the largest maritime development programmes undertaken by any coastal state in India. He noted that these projects position Gujarat as a key execution engine for Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047, strengthening the state's role as India's maritime gateway. In a compelling call to action, DG(MA) threw open all engagement avenues with the Government of India and State Governments, inviting investors, developers and industry stakeholders to actively participate in shaping India's port infrastructure and shipbuilding ecosystem reaffirming that the convergence of policy support, state partnership and national vision offers a rare and timely opportunity for transformative maritime growth.
